چکیده
Masonry infill walls are among the most vulnerable components of reinforced concrete (RC) frame structures. Recently, some techniques for enhancing performance infills have been proposed, aiming at improving both global and local behaviour infilled structure. Among promising ones, there those that aim to decouple or reduce infill-frame interaction by means flexible sliding joints, relying respectively on rubber low-friction materials interface between horizontal subpanels panels frame. Numerous models developed in last decades describing seismic response masonry-infilled RC frames, but these focused mainly case traditional infills. This study aims fill this gap proposing a two-dimensional macro-element model in-plane frames with joints. The proposed modelling approach, implemented OpenSees, is an extension discrete previously panels. It calibrated validated against quasi-static tests from literature, carried out results show capabilities approach evaluate benefits using joints terms minimising negative effects limiting increase stiffness system respect bare condition.

The Effect of Tuned Mass Damper on Seismic Response of Building Frames with Uncertain Structural Characteristics
Tuned mass dampers (TMDs) could be used to absorb the input energy of the applied load, and reduce the response of the building frames. However, the effectiveness of TMD in reducing the response of the building frames could be affected by inherited uncertainties in the structural characteristics of the frames. In this study, in order to investigate the probabilistic response of steel moment-res...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Evaluation of the Seismic Response of Single-Story RC Frames under Biaxial Earthquake Excitations
This paper summarizes the lessons learned from a full-scale test on two RC frame prototypes that have recently been tested on LNEC shaking-table using four pairs of biaxial synthetic ground motion records during 15WCEE Conference (2012). The reference structures are two single-story RC frames which are geometrically identical but with different reinforcement details. The simplified inelastic mo...
متن کاملExperimental Testing of Joints for Seismic Design of Lightweight Structures. Part 3: Gussets, Corner Joints and X-braced Frames
An experimental campaign on joints of x-braced frames is presented. Tests are performed on strap-gusset joints and lower and upper corner joints. Many different phenomena and failure modes are observed in these tests. However, it is possible to see that only one failure mode can be accepted if a good seismic performance of the frame needs to be guaranteed: the net section failure of the diagona...
